Is a 1 GB RAM Computer faster than a 512 MB RAM one?

Further, different operating systems have different requirements; for example, Microsoft suggests 128MB of RAM is sufficient to run Windows XP but recommends at least 1GB for Windows Vista.

Hence RAM is not the only criteria. But yes a 1GB RAM always > 512 MB RAM performance wise to some extent.
