How to Install Windows Media Player 11 without validating XP?

Dear reader,
You might be interested in installing the latest windows media player 11.Microsoft has decided to add a WGA check to this installation setup. When you try to install, it asks for a WGA check and will not continue the installation until it is checked whether your Windows installation is legitimate or not. We know that the users had problems with these WGA checks and could not install the player. Many have tried to install the player before but it checks and kicks off saying I cannot install. Unfortunately it happens even for legit copies.

Here is how to install the windows media player 11 without WGA check or validation:

1. Download the copy here.
2. Before you install ensure you have WMP 10 atlease in the system and have the latest SP3 installed for XP
3. Go to windows media player folder in program files. There rename the file "legitLibM.dll" to "legitlib.dll".
4. Now go to the folder where you have downloaded the setup and double click it. The installation starts but it asks us to validate. Click validate and the next screen comes up showing the heads up and showing you the type of install. This worked for me as well. I have heard that this might work even for the error "Windows cannot validate etc.,"
5. Rest is history and you know how to install :)

Good luck and let me know if I can help!

Google gets a Patent for Simplicity!!!

How do you get a patent for an text box and a couple of links? You'll have to ask Google, cause that's what they just did. It's website... it's a search engine.. it's a "Graphical user interface for a display screen of a communications terminal"!

The famous Google homepage, the epitome of simplicity, and widely praised for being so, is now patented. This proves once and for all that it is possible to get a patent for, a page design any 15 year-old with basic HTML skills could make. Get your right now! Will look good on that resume.

Their search results page, which itself couldn't get much simpler, had already been issued a patent back in 2006. This is sure to install some fear in any new search engine which aims for simplicity, move along, simplicity's taken, try something new. Overall a rather embarrassing patent for Google's profile.

Video Playing gets stuck | Video not in sync with Audio | Video doesn't match Audio | Solution

This is one of those frequent issues where in we cannot play video smoothly. Maybe its any file, when you play a video, it gets stuck once every 4 sec or any time. The sound keeps going on. But the video doesn't move and after sometime, it automatically moves to next spot wherein it can match the sound.

I have faced this issue so frequently and I was frustrated. This happens to the High Definition videos like MKV (x264 format) files predominantly as they demand more system resources. Anyways, below is the best solution for this. Please note that the exact software updates will be provided later. But this is the fix.
Just follow these simple steps to fix this issue:

1. Have your current drivers backed up. Use any good software like Driver Scanner or Genius. I will provide the links to these later in my forthcoming posts.
2. Ensure you have latest directx 9 (2009 March Edition is latest when writing this post). So download the latest directx. Install it. This should solve your issue.
3. If re-installing the directx doesnt solve the issue, Uninstall your Video Card drivers by going through the Device manager. Install the latest drivers suitable for your chipset. Below are the links wherein you can download the latest drivers:

Download - NVidia Drivers
Download - ATI Drivers

I dont think anyone can feel the HD Experience without a Graphics card as it has its own memory. Hence only provided these links. Onboard chipset users, go to your manufacturer's site.

4. If needed reinstall the latest drivers for all the hardware configured. Not to forget the latest Audio Drivers as well.
5. After this, Re-install the latest directx. Restart the system. The Sync issues should go and you must be able to playback smoothly any video.
6. Still if its an issue, might be an issue with the player but this would be very rare. Suggested players are KMPlayer and VLC older version. (Latest is bloated)
7. Still an issue? Then maybe an OS Issue as mine was the same. Last resort is to reinstall the OS after format. Install the latest Drivers always. But only, the right ones!
8. Still an issue, might be related to hardware like the overheat, Temperature issues etc.,

Please comment if you need any assistance in these as I have solved on my own and so writing this. Most of the issues must be fixed by doing this.

Nokia lures rural India with micro-payment scheme!

While Nokia's Indian market continues to grow even as pockets shrink in this recession, it has found a new way to reel in even more customers. India is already Nokia's second biggest market, with 430 million users which represents 60% of India's mobiles. While the demand for high end phones remains the domain of urban India, Nokia has a new lucrative micro-financing scheme which might reign in some of the rural audience too.

The new scheme which has already been tested in Maharashtra, will enable rural customers to pay for their mobile in 25 equal weekly installments of Rs. 100 each. This service is sure to be a boon to many of the customers in the rural market, as now with a small bill of Rs. 400 above their monthly bill, they can get a Nokia mobile. Other schemes such as Nokia Life Tools are also targeted towards this market. With the Nokia Life Tools Agriculture services, Nokia intends to provide its rural audience with information relevant to them.

According to Nokia's Life Tools Features page:
"Receive information on weather, agriculture tips & amp; techniques, as well as market prices to improve your productivity and earnings. You’ll be empowered with tailored and reliable information in synch with the cropping cycles delivered regularly to your mobile phone."

The Life Tools package also has services for Education, for help with exams, learning English, checking results, and Entertainment.
The fact that these service are being launched first in India, shows how important this market is for them. Connectivity is always a good thing, and more services geared for farmers and other rural audiences are surely a good sign. Just don't expect to get a N97 in this scheme anytime soon!

Gmail finally adds a contact-chooser!!!

Its been Five years.....and it was one of the most sorely-missing features in what is otherwise the best email service, by far. For some reason, since its launch in April 2004, Gmail has never had an option for a pop-up window to choose contacts that you want to send an email to.

Well, that has now changed as the service has finally added a contact-chooser for its users. In a post on the official Google blog, Benjamin Grol, Product Manager (Gmail), wrote:

"When composing messages, you probably rely pretty heavily on auto-complete to add recipients. Auto-complete is convenient and fast, and usually does the trick. But sometimes seeing your list of contacts can help you remember all the people you want to include on your email.

"So, we've added a contact chooser to Gmail. Click the "To:" link (or Cc:/Bcc:) when composing a message and you'll see something like this:
"You can click on the contacts you want to add or search for others.

"If you use contact groups, your groups will appear in a drop-down menu in the contact chooser, so you can select contacts from the groups you've already created. And if you happen to use Gmail in Chinese, Japanese or Korean, being able to pick from your list ofhttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gif contacts should be particularly useful since auto-complete doesn't offer the same search as you type experience that it does in other languages."

Lifehacker lists the uses of the new service, noting: "Most convenient of all is the search function in the contact chooser, and the ability to select all the results that come up from a particular search. That makes it easy to, say, pick everyone you know from the Rochester Institute of Technology by searching rit.edu and picking everyone who comes up." However, all is not well with the new contact chooser. "The big irk that some are noting is that Gmail's contact chooser opens in a new window, confounding Firefox users that have relegated new windows to tabs, and forcing those with pop-up blockers to set them to allow Gmail's chooser through," Lifehacker says.

Xbox 360 Elite price drops: 250GB model rumoured!

With the Sony PlayStation 3 Slim and the price cut for the PS3 grabbing all the headlines recently, Microsoft’s retaliatory trimming of its own prices doesn’t come as a surprise.Come Friday, the Xbox 360 Elite (with a 120GB hard drive) will be getting a price cut in the US and the Asia-Pacific region, as prices drop by $100 in America to bring the console’s cost to $299.99; and in Singapore, the price will be slashed to Sing $499, which is about Rs 17,000.

The Xbox 360 Pro will also be cheaper in the US as prices fall to $249.99. Microsoft announced that this model will be phased out and no new units will be produced once the current lot of Pro consoles sell out.

Going forward, Microsoft will offer only the $299 Xbox 360 Elite with its 120GB hard drive, and the $199 Xbox 360 Arcade which comes bundled with five games and a 256MB memory unit.

There is a catch, though: The new, cheaper Xbox 360 Elite package will not include an HDMI cable in the bundle, like the current ones have. Microsoft's director of product management for Xbox 360 and Xbox Live, Aaron Greenberg, defended the company against talk of this being a retaliatory move to Sony's new product and prices.

"I'm sure some will think this is a response to competitor pricing," Greenberg told CNET. "But we had planned this reduction months in advance. Retail circular ads and store merchandising were all lined up."

A 250GB Xbox 360 Elite?
Meanwhile, Engadget was tipped by one of its readers about Amazon Germany listing a new Xbox 360 Elite console on their site, packaged with a 250GB hard drive.
As the gadget blog points out, Amazon Germany also previously listed the PlayStation 3 Slim a good 20 days before the official debut (it still has the same Amazon Stock Identification Number as it did when leaked).

The package is listed to come with two wireless controllers and Forza Motorsport 3 (which is due out in October), and is priced at 279 euros.
